moving, true account of first year of WW-2 air combat in South Pacific
It is an awesome read. It brings tears to your eyes. It is also a lesson in history. AND ALSO. He was my uncle. Uncle Merrill was loved by everyone- one and all. Uncle Merrill was special. From Sandra Dewan George
This book is very interesting, it details one mans deployment during the War. Gives you a in-depth look at how a soldier felt being away from his family.
You will know about military life when you finish this interesting book. World War II Pacific theatre setting. Very personal.
Good price. Bought for my friend who's Father was part of the experience.
My dad was a Red Raider. I purchased this book to get an idea of what his life might have been like
in the south pacific in WWII. I'm not sure how similar Merrill Dewans experience was to my Dad's, but it was a pleasurable interesting read just the same. You're really drawn into his thoughts and concerns about his family, dangers, military realities, etc, and day-to-day life. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to "get into the head" of someone who served in WWII in such challenging circumstances.
